Catherine L. Manderson

NEWBERRY, Mich. — Catherine L. Manderson, 78, of White Pine, passed away in the emergency room at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital in Newberry on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015.

Born in Chicago on July 10, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Nicholas & Barbara (Harmath) Chomer. She was educated in the Chicago School system and graduated in the class of 1956. On March 23, 1957, she married her husband George Manderson.

She was employed as an administrative assistant by Knickerbocker Case Co., a manufacturing firm in Chicago for many years. Catherine enjoyed reading, especially mysteries.

Besides her parents, Catherine is preceded in death by her daughter, Laura; and her sister, Barbara Mann.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, George of White Pine; and children, George (Beverly) of Sault Ste. Marie, David (Susan) of Chicago and Elaine Sanabria of Kinchloe; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brother, Arnold Chomer of Canada; and sister, Eleanor Zika of Illinois.

A memorial service to honor her life will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bergland on Friday Dec. 11, at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Tim Steckling officiating. The family will gather at the church starting a 12:30 p.m. Inurnment will occur at a late date at Forest Home Cemetery in Chicago.
