Marguerite A. Vernetti

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Marguerite A. Vernetti, 82, of Southgate Village, Hurley, died peacefully Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015, at Aspirus Grand View Hospital in Ironwood, with her loving family by her side.

The former Marguerite Lutz was born Dec. 8, 1933, in Bessemer, daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (Oglesby) Lutz, and attended Bessemer schools. She worked at Munsingwear in Ironwood, Simpson Electric in Mercer, Wis., and Hurley Astronautics in Hurley.

She was married to Peter P. Vernetti on May 14, 1955, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Ironwood. He preceded her in death on July 1, 2010.

Marguerite was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley. She enjoyed horse racing, reading, feeding the birds in her yard, and loved all animals. She especially enjoyed spending quality time and get-togethers with her large family, and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.

Surviving are three sons, James, Seattle; William (Catherine), Ironwood Township, and Joseph, Platte City, Mo .; a daughter, Mary (Jeff) Ollikainen, Montreal, Wis .; eight grandchildren, Andrea (Steven) Dobesh, Rachelle Soffa, Justin (Kari Jacquart) Soffa, Jonathan Soffa, Jason (Danielle) Vernetti, Nicholas Vernetti, Jacob Vernetti and Jennifer Bufkin; seven great-grandchildren, Issiah, Nico and Levi Vernetti, Rayna Walker, Kendra and Caleb Bufkin, and Talon Dobesh; a brother, James Lutz, Charlevoix; and numerous nieces, nephews, and brothers- and sisters-in-law.

In addition to her parents and husband, Marguerite was predeceased by a brother, Charles Lutz; and sisters, Mary Alice Lutz and Helen Lakner.

Out of respect for her wishes, cremation has taken place.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Dec. 22, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at St. Mary's Church in Hurley, with the Rev. Frank Kordek OFM, celebrant.

Luncheon will follow in the parish hall.

Rite of Committal and interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Bessemer, in the spring.
