HURLEY, Wis. - June M. Kapugia, 93, of Mercer, formerly of Ironwood, Mich., died peacefully Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016, at Villa Maria Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hurley, with her family by her side.

The former June Mueller was born June 21, 1922, in Ironwood, daughter of the late Adolph and Agnes (Dwyer) Mueller, and graduated from St. Ambrose High School in 1940. She then attended Miss Brown Business College and one year at Gogebic Community College.

She was employed by Ralph Bohne at People's Loan in Ironwood for 20 years, and worked at Liberty Loan for five years, retiring as Magistrate at the Gogebic County Courthouse in Bessemer in 1993.

June was a member of St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Mercer and the St. Ambrose-Ironwood Catholic Alumni and Friends Association.

On Jan. 17, 1942, she was united in marriage to Joseph V. Kapugia at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Ironwood by the late Father Coughlin. Joseph preceded her in death in 1953.

Surviving are a son, Lawrence "Buddy" (Rita), Wakefield, Mich .; two grandchildren, Joseph, Whitewater, and Kelly, Tomahawk; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Joseph E., in 1974; three brothers, Sylvester, Glenwood and Emmett Mueller; and three sisters, Marcella Miller, Marie Mueller and Rita McGuire.

Per June's wishes, cremation has taken place.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the spring at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Mercer.

Rite of Committal and interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood.
