WATERSMEET, Mich. - Father Aloysius J. Hasenberg, 92, of Watersmeet, passed away Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016.
Father Hasenberg was born July 20, 1922, in Ewen, the son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Bouvier) Hasenberg. He was educated in the Ewen Public Schools and following graduation he studied for the priesthood at St. Lawrence Seminary, Mt. Calvary, Wis., from 1941 to 1944. He was ordained a priest on June 4, 1949, in St. Peter's Cathedral in Marquette by Bishop Thomas L. Noa.
He served parishes in Menominee, Iron Mountain, Escanaba, Trenary, Calumet and Iron River before his retirement in 1997.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. (CST) at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River, and Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. EST at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Ewen. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. EST by Rev. George Maki, with the diocean priests to concelebrate.
Interment will be in Ewen Cemetery in the spring.
