Patricia Sue Caramella

FLORENCE, Wis. - Patricia Sue Caramella, 81, of White Pine, Mich., passed away Tuesday evening, Feb. 16, 2016, at Golden Living Nursing Home in Florence with family by her side.

Pat was born Aug. 31, 1934, in Ontonagon, Mich., the daughter of the late Chauncey and Madeline (Leonard) Marley.

Pat graduated from Ontonagon High School and Northern Michigan University with a bachelor of arts degree in education. Pat married Mario Caramella and together they had four lovely children. In a lifetime career of teaching, Pat found great happiness and joy in front of the classroom. With the love of so many students throughout the years, Pat had a teacher's aptitude of creating a joy for learning.

Pat taught English and speech in Marquette, White Pine and Gogebic Community College.

She was always giving of herself with a loving and generous heart as a member of St. Jude's Parish in White Pine and as a Mary Kay consultant for so many friends.

Pat helped a great number of people with the Cancer Drive in Ontonagon County.

As well as being an avid reader, she loved music and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. Always happy walking on the beach, Pat loved the "serenity" of watching the beautiful sunsets at home on Lake Superior.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Rose Marie (Marley) Cayley (Hubert Cayley), of Fargo, N.D.

She is survived by her four children, Michael (Michelle) Caramella, Austin, Nev., Patrick Caramella, Gladstone, Mich., Maria Caramella, Florence, and Nicole Caramella (Shawn Barnes), Iron Mountain, Mich .; her longtime companion, Ron Cook, of Bergland, Mich .; her brother, John (Jeannette) Marley, Ontonagon; sister, Arzelie Marley, Florence; sister-in-law, Lorraine Marley, Ontonagon; former husband, Mario (Edna) Caramella, Bergland; grandchildren, Orrin Parker, Sara, Alissa, Anna, and Emma Caramella, Nicholas Dishaw and Kailey Barnes; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

A Memorial service celebrating the life of Patricia Sue Caramella will take place July 30, 2016, at her home on Lake Superior. Also, at a future date a Catholic Mass will be held and a Rosary said in her honor. Cremation has taken place upon Pat's request.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society in memory of her sister, Rose Marie Cayley, and in honor of her granddaughter, Anna Caramella, a cancer survivor.
