Patricia Louise Wawro

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Patricia Louise Wawro, 65, a native of Ironwood, died peacefully in her home on Friday, April 1, 2016.

She was born in Ironwood on Sept. 18, 1950, daughter of the late Charles and Bernadine (Olszewski) Santini, and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School with the Class of 1968. From there, she attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo and graduated in speech communications, elementary education and fine arts. Pat then earned her master's degree from Rackham School of Education at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor.

Patricia started her teaching career at the Charles Mott Program in Flint. She then taught English and speech in Flushing from grades 1-6 and high school. She was the director of the tutor program in Hurley, Wis. She also served many years on the Community Education Advisory Council in Hurley and on the Our Lady of Peace Accreditation Steering Committee in Ironwood.

Pat married the love of her life, the late Mark Wawro, in 1976.

She is survived by her sons, Jack (Kelli), Lake Shore, Minn., and Charlie, Ann Arbor; granddaughter, Holly Wawro, Lake Shore; two sisters, Christine (Richard) Ferrando, Midland, and Mary Santini, Ironwood; brothers-in-law, Mike (Jan) Wawro, Alpena, and Matt (Elizabeth) Wawro, Birmingham; sisters-in-law, Shannon (Bo) Tomkie, Lathrop Village, and Erin (Bruce) Warren, Providence, R.I .; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her father and mother-in-law, Edward and Patricia Wawro.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, April 9, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation in the St. Joseph Family Room at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood, with the Rev. Robb Jurkovich, celebrant.

Rite of Committal and interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood, later this spring.
