Pauline M. 'P.J.' Lotzer

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Pauline M. "P.J." Lotzer, 66, of Ironwood, died peacefully Wednesday, May 11, 2016, surrounded by her loving family, at Aspirus Grand View Hospital in Ironwood.

The former Pauline M. Joki was born May 9, 1950, in Wakefield, daughter of the late Reino and Geraldine (Collins) Joki. She attended grade school in Ramsay and graduated from A.D. Johnston High School in Bessemer in 1968. She received an associate degree from Gogebic Community College in education and a Bachelor of Science degree in special education from Northern Michigan University in Marquette, then taught special education for one year in the Watersmeet School District.

P.J. was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ironwood. She operated the concession stand at the P.J. O'Donnell Civic Center in Ironwood for many years and was a crossing guard at Sleight School for four years. She enjoyed playing bingo and loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.

On Nov. 29, 1980, she was married to Charles A. "Chuck" Lotzer at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Kimball, Wis., by the Rev. Robert Haltner. Chuck survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Charles Jr., Germany, Christopher (Denise), Iron Belt, Wis., and Michael, Ironwood; four daughters, Debbie (Craig) Jensen, Fenton, Lisa (Christopher) Sowinski, Ramsay, Jackie (Timothy) Minier, Kimball, and Amy Lotzer, Ironwood; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill (Debi) Joki, and sister, Geraldine Fuller, both of Ironwood; sister-in-law, Marilynn (John) Moon, Crystal Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, P.J. was preceded in death by a son, Theodore "Ted" Lotzer, on Aug. 13, 1994.

Out of respect for her wishes, cremation has taken place.

Memorial services will be held Monday, May 23, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at Zion Lutheran Church, 100 W. Midland Ave., in Ironwood, with Pastor Kurt Kovanen officiating.

Luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall.
