Albert Louis Peterson

MARSHFIELD, Wis. — Albert Louis Peterson, 77, died on May 18th, 2016 at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. 

He was born in La Forge on April 18, 1939, to George and Mabel (Heyman) Peterson. The family relocated to Watersmeet, Mich., where Al attended public school and graduated in 1957.

He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1961 and served until 1963. Nineteen months of his duty were served in Alaska.

Albert married his “better-half,” Judy (Caudill) Peterson, on Oct. 10, 1964. He worked as a C & M Supervisor for the U.S. Forestry Service for 30 years, retiring in 1994. In his retirement he worked as a security guard for Lac Vieux Desert until 2009. After retiring a second time, he continued to work with his son Pete’s company, Peterson Excavating.

Albert was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watersmeet and belonged to the American Legion Post 417. 

Albert is survived by his wife, Judy; daughters, Kathryn Peterson-Kristek (Ron) and Kimberly Spedowski; and his son, Albert “Pete” Peterson, Jr. (Lisa).

He is also survived by grandchildren Kristina (Jamie) Compton, Andrew Peterson (Sarah Isaacson, soon to be Peterson), Beth Spedowski (Allan Schrader, who is most certainty a “Yes”), Peter Lievense Jr., Anna Peterson-Kristek, Gavin Peterson, Haley Peterson and Nicole Peterson. His great-grandchildren include Amelia McGeshick, Kailan McGeshick, Bella Compton and Addisyn Compton.

He is also survived by his brothers, George (Betty), Jim and Curt (Barb); his sisters, Florence Dravecky and Cora (Jerry) Dickman; as well as in-laws and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his best friend, Rick Chiochios. 

Albert was preceded in death by his parents and his infant daughter, Kristina. 

Funeral services for Albert will be held on Saturday, May 28, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watersmeet. Visitation is from 10 to 11 a.m. with Mass to follow. Father George Maki will officiate.

Interment will be at Watersmeet Township Cemetery.
