Gladys Mae Kummer

WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Gladys Mae Kummer, 83, a long-time resident of Wakefield, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, June 1, 2016.

She was born on June 13, 1932, in Sagola, a daughter of Charles Horace and Delphia Mae (Beals) Plumley.

On Sept. 4, 1948, Gladys married Mike Zeckovich in Bessemer. Later they divorced, and he preceded her in death on April 27, 1983.

On Aug. 29, 1964, she married Walter A. Kummer in Waukegan, Ill. He preceded her in death on July 8, 1997.

Gladys was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Wakefield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9084. In her free time, she enjoyed playing Bingo.

Gladys was employed by Dairymen's Country Club in Boulder Junction, Wis., and at Keen Agers in Wakefield.

Gladys is survived by seven children, Linda Lane, Merrill, Wis., Steve (Maryann) Zeckovich and Tom (Debra) Zeckovich, both of Wakefield, James Zeckovich, of Illinois, Robert Kummer and Milton Kummer, both of Wakefield, and Jerry Zeckovich, Ishpeming; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Maitland Dennis (Margie) Plumley, Amherst, Va .; two sisters, Alida Rimkus, Ironwood, and Pauline Smith, Three Rivers; her sister-in-law, Arthrene Plumley, Wakefield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and former husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Michael Joseph Zeckovich Jr., in 1948; four brothers, Donald, Lyle, Earl and William Plumley; and a sister, Wilmajane Plumley.

A funeral service will be held at the Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield on Friday, June 10, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Mike Hill, pastor of Woodland Church in Ironwood officiating. Interment will follow.
