Solid waste board approves '16-'17 budget

IRONWOOD — The Gogebic Range Solid Waste Management Authority board approved the a budget for the upcoming fiscal year Thursday.

The authority is projected to have $1,006,399 in revenue for the fiscal year beginning July 1.

While the numbers could change slightly as the authority’s auditor completes her review of the books, the 2015-’16 revenues stand at around $1,023,672.

According to the documents presented to the board, the authority’s expenses are projected to be $925,946 — up slightly from the approximate $899,926 spent during the current fiscal year.

It leaves the authority with around $80,452 after operating and non-operating expenses.

When other costs — such as capital expenses and debt services — are calculated into the budget, the authority is left with $40,902.

There are no significant changes from the previous year’s budget, according to administrator Chris Ann Bressette.

In other business on Thursday:

—The board approved spending $2,825 the purchase of new tires for the authority’s skid steer.

—The board authorized Bressette to seek quotes to repair an issue with the transfer station’s drainage system.

—The board also authorized Bressette to seek quotes for the purchase of a new garbage truck, to replace the authority’s Mack truck.
