Anna M. Sullivan

DULUTH, Minn. - Anna M. Sullivan, 83, of Saxon, Wis., died peacefully Monday evening, July 11, 2016, surrounded by her loving family, at Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth.

The former Anna Ableman was born Aug. 28, 1932, in Edgerton, Wis., daughter of the late Gloyd and Elma (Reger) Ableman, and graduated from Edgerton High School. She then became a licensed practical nurse in 1952 and worked in the nursery at Milwaukee Hospital for four years.

She married Jerry G. Sullivan on June 25, 1954, in Ft. Lawton, Wash. They lived in Seattle for a short time, then returned to Wisconsin, settling predominantly in Footville until retiring to Saxon in 1993. Jerry preceded Anna in death on Jan. 9, 2013.

Anna was a member of the Auxiliary to Mercer-Kero American Legion Post 371 of Saxon. While living in Footville, she was a Girl Scout leader and Sunday school and Bible school teacher. Her hobbies included crafts, crocheting, ceramics and cake decorating. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her four children, Merry Jo (Guy) Tanner, Cheneyville, La., Bonnie (Les) Ritzert, Footville, Barry (Kathryn) Sullivan, Ashland, Wis., and Peter (Terry Wasti) Sullivan, Sullivan, Maine; seven grandchildren, Gregory (Alana) Rankin, Amanda (Derek) Piwonski and their pug, Bella, Jonathan Sullivan, Anna Sullivan, Nathan Sullivan, Chase Sullivan and Jake Wasti; great-grandson, Bennett Piwonski; brother-in-law, Ed (Judy) Sullivan, Saxon; sisters-in-law, Mary Anne Thurow, Saxon, and Dorothy Marchant, Kensoha, Wis .; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Anna was predeceased by sisters, Esther Ruth Rikli and Ethel Roenneburg; and brothers- and sister-in-law, Johnny and Dan Sullivan and Margie Hallisey.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 20, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 9:30 a.m., at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in Ironwood, Mich., with The Rev. Dr. Ardyth Kovacevich Johnson.

Committal and interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Saxon.
