Irene H. Strand

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Irene H. Strand, 90, of Bessemer, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, in Ironwood.

She was born Sept. 24, 1925, in Bessemer, the daughter of the late Bartek and Josephine (Todryk) Pucilowski.

Irene attended Bessemer Schools, graduating from the A.D. Johnston High School with the Class of 1944. On July 13, 1946, she married Jack Edward Strand. He preceded her in death on May 30, 1994.

Irene was a very devoted member of the St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bessemer.

She is survived by her children, Doris Beckish, of Mustang, Okla., Bonnie Tregembo, of Ironwood, Paul (Janine) Strand, of Ironwood, Peggy Strand, of South Milwaukee, Wis., Patti (Brian) Thompson, of Minneapolis, and David (Cheryl) Strand, of Hurley, Wis .; her grandchildren, Suzie (Chris), Ron (Rose), Chris (Kelli), Billy (Penny), Shelly (Mark), Brad (Jessica), Justin (Alison), Tyler, Caitlin (Paul) and Jack; her great-grandchildren, Rachel (Joe), Nicholas, Tara (Ross), Michael, Markie, Joslyn, Jacob, Abigail, Olivia, Henry and Sawyer; and one great-grandson, Sylas.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Jack in 2011; her brothers, Anton, Henry, Edmond and Donald Pucilowski; and her sisters, Wanda Udell, Veronica Minkin, Agnes Maki and Evelyn Fabbri.

Per Irene's wishes, cremation has taken place.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bessemer. Father Dominic Agyapong will be the celebrant. Irene's family will receive relatives and friends at 10 a.m. on Saturday until the hour of service. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Irene's best friend, Joanie, and her dog, Buddy; and Westgate Living Center and Aspirus Grand View Hospital for the care well given.
