LaViolet 'Nikki' Marx

HURLEY, Wis. - LaViolet "Nikki" Marx, 88, of Ironwood, Mich., died peacefully early Tuesday morning, Aug. 9, 2016, at Villa Maria Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hurley.

The former LaViolet Nicholas was born March 11, 1928, in Ironwood, daughter of the late Samuel and Ethel (Alexander) Nicholas, and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1946.

She married Richard Marx in 1980 in Harvey, Mich., and resided there for many years. Richard preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 2008.

Nikki sold Avon products for many years and had resided in Ironwood for the past seven years. She and Richard enjoyed spending time at their cottage on Pike Lake in Gwinn, Mich.

Surviving are two sons, Bill (Chris) Tippett and Rick (Sue) Tippett, both of Ironwood Township; a daughter, Sharon (Ron) Poquette, Beaver Dam; four grandchildren, Debbie (Mike) Higgins, Spencer, Keith (Jessica) Tippett, Ironwood Township, Scott (Lynn) Richardson, Ironwood, and Chad (Megan) Richardson, Fond du Lac; nine great-grandchildren, Leah, Chase and Judd Higgins, Kanaan Tippett, Darian and Trevor Richardson, and Nick, Aaden and Adalyn Richardson; and one great-great-grandson, Eric Richardson.

Per Nikki's wishes, cremation has taken place.

Graveside services and interment will be held Friday, Aug. 19, at 11 a.m., in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood, with Pastor Kurt Kovanen officiating.

Luncheon will follow at the Elk & Hound on Country Club Road in Ironwood.
