Robert A. Noordyk

WATERSMEET, Mich. - Robert A Noordyk, 73, passed away at his home in Watersmeet on Aug. 21, 2016.

Robert was born on Oct. 25, 1942, to Andrew and Alice (Pohl) Noordyk. Robert attended Plymouth High School in Plymouth, Wis., and graduated in 1961.

Robert served his country in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966, serving two years in Germany.

On Sept. 29, 1967, he married Mary A. Evans in Sheboygan, Wis.

Robert worked for Kohler Company from 1967 until his retirement in 2003. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at his home on Long Lake and with his long-time hunting and fishing friend, Joel (Lois) Slabe.

Robert and his wife, Mary, relocated to Watersmeet in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in 2009.

Robert is survived by his wife, Mary (Evans); daughter, Michele (William) Haapala, of New Holstein, Wis .; granddaughter, Emilie Haapala; brother, David (Susan) Noordyk; and three sisters, Deanna Rortvedt, Dorothy (Warren) Pfrang and Faye (Robert) Klaschus; brother-in-laws, Russell (Joyce) Evans, Roger Evans, Stanley (Susan) Evans, Victor Evans and David Evans; and sister-in-law, Elaine Grimes. Robert is further survived by his constant companion and fur baby, Robyn, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Alice Noordyk.

A special thanks to the Beacon House in Marquette, the Aspirus At Home, Home Health Care nurses Allan, Melissa and Dr. Gary Pusateri and staff.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Aug. 29 at the New Holstein Optimist Park in New Holstein, from 4 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift will be made to the Beacon House in Marquette, Michigan.
