Ironwood - The final touches are being made in preparation to open Aspirus Grand View Hospital's state-of-the-art outpatient clinic in November.

Earlier in the week, the hospital parking lot closed for construction and work continued on Wednesday.

"This is the last major phase of the outpatient clinic project," said GVH spokesperson David Sim.

According to the schedule, the construction period is estimated to last four weeks, weather pending. All services and locations will remain open with existing hours.

Because of the construction, Sim said GVH staff and general contractor Miron Construction collaborated to find the best entrance to get patients safely into the building and have it be open all day.

With that, Sim said patients and visitors can park in the lot behind the ambulance garage. As people enter from U.S. 2, he said there will be signs guiding people to the lot.

The lot will have clearly marked parking spaces and greeters wearing green will be available around the clock to help people enter the building, Sim said.

"We're committed to making sure patients know where to go and get there safely," he said.

When the parking lot is complete, Sim said there will be sidewalks, more parking spots and a drop-off area underneath the canopies.

Construction continues on the new outpatient clinic. Sim said crew members have been installing fixtures and putting in furniture.

The public is invited to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, Nov. 11, and the building is scheduled to open Nov. 21.
