HURLEY, Wis. - Stanley J. "Honey" Traczyk, 88, of Hurley, died at home on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016.

Born on May 8, 1928, in Hurley, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Renaiwicz) Traczyk. He was affectionately given the nickname "Honey" by his oldest sister, Clara, when he was a young child. The seventh of nine children, he attended school in Hurley.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1948, stationed in Japan with the Occupational Forces.

Following his military service, he spent 40 years working in the area mines, the Cary Mine and the White Pine Copper Mine, retiring in 1988.

Honey enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and making wine. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, and loved watching football games and NASCAR races. He also liked socializing with friends at the neighborhood bars. He looked forward to his weekly drives with his brother, Donald, as they made the rounds to various establishments.

He was the proud owner and patriarch of the Boxcar Camp, on U.S. 51 in Oma. He enjoyed the parties, feeds, and hunting seasons at the boxcar, which will be the final resting place for his ashes.
