David 'Dave' A. Tauer

HURLEY, Wis. - David "Dave" A. Tauer, 66, of Oma, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, in Duluth at St. Mary's Hospital, with his loving family at his side.

Dave was born April 19, 1950, in Wakefield, the son of Joseph and Leona (Sobieski) Tauer.

He was raised in the Bessemer, Mich., area and attended A.D. Johnston High School. He served during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army from Nov. 5, 1969, until Nov. 2, 1971, when he was honorably discharged.

On Dec. 23, 1970, before leaving for Vietnam, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Billi C. Galarno, in Hurley. After his tour was complete and he returned home to his family, Dave was employed for Mad Man Joe as a truck driver and maintenance man, then for Tri-State Homes as a truck driver, but the job that he retired from that was his favorite was the company that was owned by his loving brother, JET Construction.

Dave was a Disabled Vietnam Veteran, President of Vietnam Veterans Chapter 529, a member of Post 371 American Legion in Saxon, and a life-yime member of the DAV.

For Dave, one of the most important things of each year was making sure his firewood was done. He thought he was tricking us by telling us he needed help, but we always knew it was his way to spend time with his family. Another favorite time of the year was deer season and hunting with his boys.
