Hurley - A quilt show and sale was held at the Iron County Memorial Building Saturday in memory of Jackie Haig, who passed away last April.

"She was quite a quilter" said Haig's longtime friend, Linda Yoo.

Dozens of Haig's quilts, place mats, fabrics, quarters, supplies, and more were up for sale at the event; along with several more quilts that were raffled off.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Ironwood Carnegie Library and the Iron County Memorial Building. "She was a big fan of the library," said Don Haig, Jackie's husband.

Haig was on the library board for many years and was committed to helping the library. "Jackie was a phenomenal board member," said Lynne Wiercinski, director of the Carnegie Library. "She was so dedicated and was always there to help. We miss her very much."

Don Haig expressed immense gratitude to Joe and Dorothy Walesewics, for their part in making Saturday's show possible.

"I want to thank them for making the Memorial Building available to honor Jackie's memory in this way," said Haig.

Haig's daughter, Jodi Gregoire, was also at the event.

"My mother never liked being the center of attention," said Gregoire. "I think she would be overwhelmed and happy that the funds are going to something that meant a lot to her."
