Lila J. Bantz

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Lila J. Bantz, 89, of 510 Bundy St., Ironwood, died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, in Ironwood.

She was born on Feb. 28, 1927, in Ironwood, the daughter of the late Nante and Lillian (Kinnunen) Holappa.

She attended Ironwood schools, graduating from the Luther L. Wright High School with the class of 1945. She was united in marriage to Jerome Bantz. He preceded her in death on April 14, 1985.

She is survived by three sons, Jerry, of Ironwood, Stephen (Juliane), of Milwaukee, and Mark (Suzzanne), of Richfield, Wis .; four grandchildren, Kyle Christine (Ian Dees) Bantz, of Lexington, Va., Christopher Jerome Bantz, of Nashville, Tenn., Matthew Eugene Bantz and William Mark Bantz, both of Milwaukee; a sister, Nancy (Frank) Mayer, of Brookfield, Wis .; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Laverne King.

A celebration of life will be held at noon on Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Hurley Coffee Company East Wing, with Dr. Jack Fashbaugh officiating. Inurnment will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Ironwood. The family will receive relatives and friends beginning at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association.
