Ronald J. Huotari Sr.

IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. - Ronald J. Huotari Sr., 73 of 236 E. Tamarack St., Ironwood, died Monday, Nov. 7, 2016, at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain.

He was born June 15, 1943 in Ironwood, the son of the late Fred and Edna (Esila) Huotari.

He was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He was united in marriage to Constance Page. She preceded him in death on Jan. 25, 2007.

He is survived by his son, Ronald J. "RJ" (Erin) Huotari Jr. of Ironwood; two daughters, Cindy (Scott) Smith of Hosston, La., and Pamela (Darryl) Anderson of Ironwood; five grandchildren, Savannah, Jacob, Darryl Jr., Shania and Devon; one great-grandson, Owen; two brothers, Robert of Iron Mountain, and Jack of Ironwood; three sisters, Nancy (Stan) Carlson of Duluth, Minn., Anna Anderson of Ironwood Township, and Linda (Andrew) Skoveria of Hurley, Wis .; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie in 2005; three brothers, Jim, Bill and Denny; and two sisters, Doris and Judy.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at the Ketola-Burla Funeral Home in Ironwood. Pastor Ted Trudgeon will officiate. The family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.

Inurnment with Military Rites accorded by Ironwood American Legion Post 5 Honor Guard will follow at the Riverside Cemetery in Ironwood.

There will be a gathering of friends and family at Harmel's Bear Den in Hurley following the service.
