Mary Aileen Kushnir

ONTONAGON, Mich. - Mary Aileen Kushnir, 82, of Cane Court, Ontonagon, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, at home.

She was born Oct. 17, 1934, in Green, daughter of the late Einar and Mary Alina (Honkavaara) Kangas.

Mary attended Ontonagon schools and graduated from the Ontonagon High School with the class of 1952. She was employed at the First National Bank in Ontonagon. She also resided and was employed in the Boston area and Rhode Island. She returned to the Ontonagon and was employed by the U.S. Forest Service for 20 years until retirement. After retiring, she continued to do research at Victoria.

She was married to Elden Wilmer Huttula; he preceded her in death.

She was married to Raymond Kushnir; he preceded her in death.

Mary is survived by a son, Scott (Lucy) Colman, of Hamburg; three daughters, Mari Lynn (Daniel) Faroni, of Bessemer, Karen June (James) Dennis, of Farmington, N.M., and Robin Aileen (Robert) Dymond, of Howell; six grandchildren, Tyler, Alexis, April, Nicholas, Jesse and Garrett; six great-grandchildren, Darian, Cami, Sophia, Kendra, Nickkoli and Holee; brother, Robert E. Kangas, of Fowlerville; and a sister, Vernamae Hibbeln, of Green.

Private family services were held at the Frick-Zielinski Funeral Home in Bessemer. Rev. Jean B. Rencontre officiated.

Spring burial with graveside services will take place at the Riverside Cemetery in Ontonagon. Memorial contributions can be made to AA or DOVE.
