THE LIGHTS at the Bessemer Chamber of Commerce are off and the closed sign is up Wednesday evening. The chamber ceased operations on January 1 and is shutting down the storefront it has maintained by the end of February. Former president Kathy Whitburn is prepared to lead the former chamber members to form a partnership with a regional chamber with Ironwood, but local Bessemer businesses have until Feb. 10 to respond this is there wish. Otherwise the local businesses will not have any form of a chamber promoting them.

BESSEMER - Jim Morrison, the deceased lead singer of the Doors sang, "This is the end, beautiful friend. This is the end, my only friend, the end. Of our elaborate plans, the end.
