Hurley - The Hurley Fireworks Committee has two events planned to generate funds to pay for the summer fireworks display.

On Saturday, the Mid-Winter Snow Ball at the Iron County Memorial Building is being held and on Feb. 11 the Gile Snowshoe, bonfire and music festivus closes the fundraiser.

Snow Ball live entertainment kicks off at 4 p.m., featuring Brad Emmanuel. At 8 p.m., The White House Players perform and are scheduled to play through midnight, according to the committee. There will be a full cash bar available and a 301 dart tournament starts at 3 p.m. All proceeds go to support the July fireworks over Lake Michele.

The Hurley Lioness Club will serve a spaghetti dinner with desert as an adjoining fund-raiser. Funds raised by the dinner are earmarked for the club's scholarships, which have been provided to area graduates for more than 20 years.

Tickets for chow are $10 per person, or $18 for a couple.

On Feb. 11, the snowshoe five-kilometer run/walk is scheduled to take place at the Gile Park for the fourth year in a row. According to the committee, "the famous bonfire and DJ music will kick off activities around 1 p.m. People have the option to enter the snowshoe 5K or the regular shoe 5K.

The regular shoe 5K run/walk begins at 2 p.m. at the park, looping around the community and terminating back at the park. The 5K snowshoe run/walk starts at 4.

Registering for both events opens at noon and costs $5 for one or both events. Shirts are available for purchase at $15, but quantities are limited.

Additional inquiries should be directed to the Hurley Chamber at 316 Silver St., 715-561-4334.
