Wakefield fire department to hold ice fishing contest

WAKEFIELD — The Wakefield Volunteer Fire Department's annual ice fishing contest is set for Saturday, Feb. 18, during Michigan's free fishing weekend.

The contest is held on Sunday Lake at the Wakefield VFW post from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Proceeds from the tourney will be used to purchase fire suppression equipment.

Kids under 3 are free for the contest. Kids 12 and under cost $3. Kids 13 and over cost $5.

The first registered fish wins $25 and the smallest fish wins $50.

Twinklz' face painting and Slow Poke Da Clown will be on-site.

Tickets can be purchased at the door, beginning at 9 a.m.
