Hurley - The Hurley Senior Center was an art studio Thursday as the Iron County Aging Unit held its second of three painting classes.
Led by local artist Anne Marie Batiste, the class worked to replicate a landscape painting.
"It's about a two-hour class, it gets people out and interested," aging unit manager Mark Marczak told the Daily Globe. "It's been going over very well; people are really liking it."
The aging unit also held an event last week in Mercer and will hold another class Feb. 23 at the Iron Belt Community Center from 12:30 to 2 p.m.
Marczak said those interested in participating can sign up by calling the aging unit at 715-561-2108.
The class was one of the events the aging unit has funded through a Security Health grant.
"We wanted to do multiple things with the funds - the farmers market coupons, educational activities and classes - so that's how (the painting) came about," Marczak said.
The grant allows the aging unit to offer the painting class without charging participants.
