William L. "Bill" Vaughan

HURLEY, Wis. - William L. "Bill" Vaughan, 72, of Hurley, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017, at his home.

He was born April 8, 1944, in Palatine, Ill., the son of the late Anna (Mecklenberg) Vaughan.

Bill spent the majority of his life in Illinois. In 1967, he became the proud owner and operator of Vaughan's Broasted Chicken in Mundelein, Ill., with other satellite locations in Lake County. On Sept. 16, 1995, he married Jerrie (Lafin) Rouse in Hebron, Ill.

Following his retirement, he and Jerrie moved to Green Bay for a few years and settled in Hurley in 2006. Bill enjoyed four-wheeling, cooking and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Bill is survived by his wife, Jerrie; his daughters, Nancy (Glen) Stevenson, of Rockwall, Texas, Elizabeth (Joseph) Ambrose, of Hainesville, Ill., Denise (Christopher) Wasik, of McHenry, Ill .; and Cindy (Jerry Johnson), of Montreal; his son, Brian (Jill) Rouse, of Green Bay; his grandchildren, Tessa (Devan Keesling), Jessica (Ryan Martin), Daniel, Aiden, Carlie, Mac, Brent, Shelby, Evan and Jerzy; two sisters, JoAnne Valentine and Susie Shattuck, both of Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his mother, Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Terry Campbell.
