Bessemer - Scott Dianda, D-Calumet, visited six courthouses on Tuesday to announce his candidacy for Michigan's 38th State Senate District today. Starting at 5:00 a.m., Dianda and his staff covered 700 miles before pulling into the courthouse parking lot in Bessemer. In an interesting note, Dianda was behind the wheel.

Was he making a statement, does his staff drive poorly, or were they taking turns? Either way it works out, Dianda has not outgrown his britches and is still willing to spend time behind the wheel covering seven counties Tuesday and five more today.

Jim Mildren introduced Dianda Tuesday, saying, "Scott has been to Gogebic County so many times, people think he lives just down the street." Dianda did show an uncanny ability to remember the names of each person that came up to him at the courthouse and did appear like he lived just down the street.

Dianda said, "I'm running to be your next State Senator because the status quo in Lansing is not working for the people."

"I come from a proud family that has been involved in public service for five generations in the U.P. With my experience, I know what it takes to find solutions, navigate complicated government bureaucracies and get things done for the people," said Dianda.

Following the his sixth court house meeting of the day, Dianda was heading to Ironwood and the Cold Iron Brewery to discuss his candidacy with more constituents.
