Anna Elizabeth Hendrickson

ONTONAGON, Mich. - Anna Elizabeth Hendrickson, of Ontonagon, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017, at Aspirus Long-Term Care Unit where she resided for the last 3 1/2 years.

Anna was born at Vinegar Point, near Houghton, to Jacob and Regina Luokka on Oct. 11, 1932.

She married the love of her life, Douglas Hendrickson, on May 13, 1950, in Houghton. She attended school to the 11th grade in the Houghton area. She later, along with her husband, went on to get her GED.

She worked many jobs over the years, including Coach Light Restaurant in Roseville, and the Macomb Hospital in Warren, to name a few. But her favorite was at the Sip and Snack in Ontonagon. She worked and managed the Sip and Snack for several years.

She was also a volunteer with her husband, Dougie, for the Saint Nicholas project. They deliver packages and gifts to many needy people in Ontonagon County. Anna and her husband also volunteered for the department of social services. They brought many elderly people to the doctors in surrounding areas as far off as Marquette.

She is survived by her children, Sandra (Stan Niemi) Kotlaris, of Ontonagon, Michael Hendrickson, of White Pine, Jake Hendrickson, of Calumet, Linda Thoreson, of White Pine, and David (Becky) Hendrickson, of Ontonagon. She is also survived by her sister, Martha Parkin, of Ontonagon; sister-in-law, Barbara (Vern) Friend; brother-in-law Donald Hendrickson; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, Dougie Hendrickson; a son, "Butchie" Hendrickson; two grandsons, Michael Paul Kotlaris and DJ Hendrickson; mother-in-law, Alice Hendrickson; sister-in-law, Sharon Hendrickson; brother-in-law, Charlie Parkin; nephew, Dennis Parkin; special son-in-law, Gordy Thorson; and a very special Scottie dog, Yooper, who was a regular visitor at Long-term.

Visitation for Anna will take place on Monday, April 24, at the Cane Funeral Home in Ontonagon, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Ted Trudgeon officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of the Aspirus Long-Term Care Unit for the wonderful care Anna received during her stay.
