Orville G. Stain

ASHLAND, Wis. - Orville G. Stain, 83, formerly of Hurley, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2017, in Ashland.

He was born Jan. 7, 1934, in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., the son of the late Orville G. Sr. and Viola (Ahola) Stain.

Orville was a U.S. veteran, serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He resided for many years in Hoffman Estates, Ill., and moved to Hurley in 2003. Orville enjoyed buying new cars and driving them around. He also enjoyed watching all kinds of sports, including watching his grandchildren in their sporting events and other various activities. In his younger years, he enjoyed golfing and touring on his Honda Gold Wing.

Orville worked at the Red Owl in Sault Ste. Marie and later at Nuclear Data in Schamburg, Ill. Orville attended Range Community Bible Church in Hurley.

He is survived by his two daughters, Jeannette (David) Johnson, of Bartlett, Ill., and JoAnn (Michael) Harrington, of Hurley; daughter-in-law, Kerri Stain, of Clemmons, N.C .; 14 grandchildren, Andrea (Jason) Roberts, Justin Harrington, Tyler Harrington, Elizabeth Harrington, Rebekah Harrington, Nathan Harrington, Timothy Johnson, Tamara Johnson, Tiffany (Tyler) Nutt, Taylor Johnson, Tabitha Johnson, Sierra Stain, Savanna Stain and Summer Stain; two great-grandchildren, Tristan and Elah Roberts; two brothers, James (Sandra) Stain and Edward (Brenda) Stain, both of Pickford, Mich .; four sisters, Gloria Christensen and Phyllis (Donald) Anderson, both of Pickford, Sharon (Edward) Piroska of New Palestine, Ind., and Deborah (Steve) Wallis, of Sault Ste Marie, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice; his son, Todd Stain; one brother, David Stain; and two sisters, Alice Eagle and Thelma McGill.

Cremation will take place. Family services will be held at a later date in Pickford, Mich.
