Jennifer B. Bahler-Bernet

MONROE, Wis. - Jennifer B. Bahler-Bernet, 66, of Monroe, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at her home.

Jennifer was born June 17, 1950, in Ironwood, Mich., the daughter of Marvin and Marilyn (Anderson) Hotchkiss. She grew up in Ironwood, until moving to Rockford, Ill., where she worked as a waitress for many years. She later moved to Argyle, Wis., where she met her husband, Daniel Bernet. She was united in marriage to Daniel on Feb. 18, 2012, at Blanchardville Lutheran Church. In 2015 they moved to Monroe.

Jennifer is survived by her husband, Daniel; three children, Willy Huotari (Cathy Ofstad), of Montreal, Richie (Tina) Huotari, of Hurley, and Jim Bahler, of Argyle; seven stepchildren; 10 grandchildren, Connor, Courtney, Cole, Cade and Cali Huotari, of Hurley, and Kassi, Alyssa, Madison, Gracie and Alec Huotari, of Ironwood; 10 stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, Marvin Hotchkiss, of Ironwood; a sister, Sally (Dean) Rahko, of Ironwood, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a husband, John Bahler; a sister, Marilyn "Deedee" (Mike) Taylor; and a son, Casey Huotari.

Jennifer was a member of Blanchardville Lutheran Church in Blanchardville. She liked to play cards with her friends and family and enjoyed spending time outdoors horseback riding, fishing and camping. She spent her free time watching soap operas and "The Voice." She cherished the time she spent with her family, creating memories they will all remember forever.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 30, at 11 a.m. at New Hope Lutheran Church at 305 Madison St., Blanchardville, with Rev. Michelle Elfers officiating. A visitation will be held Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Ironwood at a later date.
