Larry Willard Hansen

WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Larry Willard Hansen, 82, passed away on Monday, Aug. 28, 2017, at Gogebic Medical Care Facility in Wakefield.

He was born June 17, 1935, in Kenton, to Violet (Jo) and Walter Hansen. He graduated from Ewen High School and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and spent four years in Altus, Okla., as a crew chief, working on the B-52 Bombers. Larry then retired from White Pine Copper after 33 years. He was married to Judy Jacobson on Dec. 20, 1957.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and in later years building puzzles accompanied by his faithful companion, "Scooter."

He is survived by his wife, Judy (Jacobson) of Ewen; two children, Larry Scott (Bev) and Teresa (Scott Jenson); four grandsons, Jacob, Sam Henson, Pastor Erik and Daniel Grayvold; one sister, Joyce Pottala; and numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Violet; father, Walter; and stepfather, Eino Makela.

Visitation will take place Saturday, Sept. 2, from noon until 1 p.m. at 1st Apostolic Lutheran Church in Paynesville with a Funeral Service to follow at 1 p.m. Pastor Roger Kangas will officiate. Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery.

The Cane Funeral Home of Bruce Crossing is assisting the family with arrangements.
