Volunteers, supplies sought for Houston relief effort

The Iron County Memorial Building is accepting donations Tuesday-Thursday from 9:00 a.m., until complete daily, for the Hurricane Harvey relief effort. Volunteers are asked to come and assist with packing and loading the truck all three days.

The 26 foot truck leaves for Dickinson, TX on Friday. The donations are slated for the local school district in Dickinson and its surrounding area. The donations will go directly to the families and people impacted by the hurricane.

Items needed for the relief effort include: over the counter medications, regular first aid type items, flip flops of all sizes, socks in all sizes, garbage bags, heavy work gloves, baby bottles, face masks, bottled water, new pillows and blankets, bug spray, laundry detergent, baby formula, diapers and baby wipes, all sizes of kids shoes, backpacks and school supplies, cleaning supplies, bleach, rubber gloves, feminine hygiene products, can openers, paper products and plastic tote boxes to pack the donations in.
