Wisconsin access to Little Girl's Point closed for repairs

IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP - The Gogebic Range continues to cope with the aftermath of the flooding of July 2016 with reconstruction projects.

Lake Road, north of the Wisconsin-Michigan border line bridge, will remain closed likely through next Tuesday, according to the Gogebic County Road Commission.

A big box culvert not far from the Montreal River bridge is being worked on along Lake Road, near the Xcel Energy gravel road that leads to Superior Falls.

That means that motorists cannot access Little Girl's Point from the Wisconsin side. The Point is still accessible from the Michigan side.

Superior Falls and the mouth of the Montreal River on Lake Superior are still accessible from Wisconsin 122, however.

A map of culvert locations in the Point area is available on the road commission's website.

People with questions can contact the road commission office at (906) 667-0233.
