Judith M. 'Granny' Ciatti

HURLEY, Wis. - Judith M. "Granny" Ciatti, 75, of Hurley, passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 19, 2017, surrounded by her loving family, following a lengthy battle with cancer.

The former Judith Trombi was born Dec. 9, 1941, in Montreal, daughter of the late Joseph and Florence (Garro) Trombi, and graduated from J.E. Murphy High School in Hurley in 1959. She worked as a cook at Villa Maria in Hurley, as a sewing tech at Netz Glove in Pence and cooked at Squeak's Log Cabin in Montreal for many years. She was also employed in housekeeping at the Lenroot Lodge in Hayward.

Judy loved her annual trips to Las Vegas and Wisconsin Dells, hosting family gatherings, and especially loved Christmas time with her family. She enjoyed knitting and playing darts and enjoyed spending time with her canine companion "Justice" and her great-grandchildren. She was everyone's "Granny." We will miss her dearly.

On Nov. 17, 1962, Judy married Dominic "Poncho" Ciatti at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Montreal. He preceded her in death on Dec. 17, 2008.

Surviving are a son, Dominic Jr. (Helena), Hayward; four grandchildren, Nichole (Dan) Nordhaugen, Montreal, Joseph Ciatti, Ironwood, Mich., Joshua (Whitney) Ciatti, Boulder Junction, and Erica Ciatti (Luke Bucknell), Ironwood; nine great-grandchildren, Brayden, Amelia, Claire, Abel, Braxten, Easton, Arielle, Dominic and Isaac; a brother, Bob (Helen) Trombi, Montreal; three sisters, Carol Semenak, Ironwood, twin sister, Janice Berglund, Montreal, and Diane "Bunny" Maffesanti, Ironwood; nieces, nephews and extended family.

Besides her parents and husband, Judy was predeceased by a son, David, Feb. 25, 1991; brother, Richard Trombi; and sisters, Nancy Heino, Polly Popovich, Donna Lipski and Debbie Zakovec.

There will be no visitation.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 23, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley, with Fr. Frank Kordek OFM, celebrant.

Private inurnment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hurley.
