St. John's Lutheran holds annual pie social

IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP — Maybe it was the damp weather but the crowds flocked to St. John's Lutheran Church on Airport Road in Ironwood Township Saturday for the church's annual pie social.

Organizers said each of the tables in the small church's basement was filled at least twice, which lead to an estimate of at least 150 people stopping by the event.

“(It was) the best one we've had in years,” said one of the organizers, Marlene Saari Mieloszyk.

Those attending had a chance to sample slices from over 50 pies, as well as other baked good.
