FIRST LT. Don Horn, post commander of the state police post in Wakefield, bags groceries Friday for thefood drive supporting area food banks. Last year's food drive raised 22,000 pounds of food. Horn said this year his goal is 30,000 pounds. Horn said he has not bagged groceries since he was 13.

Ironwood - Don Horn, First Lieutenant and Post Commander of the state police post in Wakefield, said he bagged groceries as a 13-year-old. On Friday, he was in Super One bagging more groceries for the "Stuff a Goose" campaign.
Horn said last year the Wakefield post received 22,000 pounds of donations and matches from the campaign that it donated to area food banks. This year, Horn is hoping the post can raise 30,000 pounds. Jerome Mazurek, MSP community service trooper, said they had already taken two full trailer loads of food to the post for storage and they would accept donations through next Friday.
Mazurek said Super One is matching dollar for dollar the community's donations in groceries by putting $10 worth of food in bags and selling them for $5 to the public. Mazurek said any cash donations to the program result in Super One selling the food at wholesale cost to load the troopers' goose with even more food.
Mazurek, in pointing to the back of the trailer being loaded with food, said this community is very generous and the 30,000- pound hope of th commander was a lofty goal.
