IRON RIVER, Mich. - Sharon L. DeVowe, age 71, of Iron River, passed away Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017 at her home.
On Aug. 14, 1946, she was born in Paynesville, Mich., to the late Reino and Florence (Merila) Hautamaki. She attended and graduated from the Trout Creek High School, with the Class of 1964.
She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Iron River. Throughout the years, she was employed at Angeli Foods and the Army Navy Store. She loved the Lord with all her heart, and enjoyed traveling, reading and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan.
Sharon is survived by her son, Daniel (Cheryl) DeVowe of Iron River; daughter, Michele (Gary) Salwey of East Tawas, Mich .; grandchildren, Travis DeVowe of Iron River, Andy (Ashley) Salwey and one great grandchild to be born in July of 2018 of Tawas City, Mich., Jerry DeVowe of Iron River, Kim Salwey of Bay City, Mich. and Jacob Salwey of USAF – South Korea; brothers, Ron (Linda) Hautamaki of Goodrich, Mich., Alton (Carol) Hautamaki of Bruce Crossing, Eugene (Sally) Hautamaki of Trout Creek and Joe Hautamaki of Bruce Crossing; sisters, Ann (Tom) Colgin of Ontonagon and June (Bob) Reichardt of Watersmeet; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her step-father, Walter Hautamaki; brothers, Bruce, Roy, John and Tony Hautamaki and sister-in-law, Susan Hautamaki.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 28, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Trout Creek from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Funeral services will follow at 12 noon (eastern standard time), with Pastor Kay Richter to officiate.
Interment will be in the Agate Cemetery in Ontonagon in the spring.
