Ontonagon man faces four felony charges

ONTONAGON — Four felony charges have been filed against an Ontonagon man in an incident with a discharged gun.

Jeffrey Earnest, 68, pleaded not guilty in Ontonagon District Court to charges of felonious assault,  carrying a concealed weapon, felon  in possession of a firearmand reckless use of a firearm. The incident occurred on the Firesteel  Road area in Ontonagon County  Jan. 27. He is presently out on bail with a hearing  set for Feb. 26.

In unrelated court cases Monday:

Edward Majurin, 26, was sentenced  on two counts of  assault and battery. On the first count he was sentenced to 93 days in jail with 93 days already served and $1,135 in  fines and costs. On the second  assault and battery charge, he was sentenced to 93 days in jail with 4 days already served. The alleged assault  occurred in the Ontonagon jail against another  jail inmate.

Karen Solberg  plead not guilty Monday to operating a vehicle while intoxicated in a two vehicle crash Dec. 18. The Solberg vehicle struck an Aspirus  ambulance  while it was  transferring a patient. Solberg was seriously injured in the accident and an  attendant in the ambulance was treated and released. A pre-trial conference is set for Feb. 26.

James Pallo, 52, White Pine,  was arraigned  on a charge of one court  criminal sexual conduct  third degree. Bond was set at $100,000 at 10 percent. It was not posted and Pallo remains in the Ontonagon County Jail.  A court hearing is slated for February 20.
