John L. Garro

IRON BELT, Wis. - John L. Garro, age 78, of Iron Belt, passed away on March 17, 2018 after a brief illness. John was born on Jan. 7, 1940 in Ironwood to John and Evelyn (Peterson) Garro. He was a graduate of J.E. Murphy High School and learned his trade at the School of Vocational Education. He served his country honorably as a member of the U.S. Army. On Sept. 8, 1963 he married the former Gayle Ruha and she preceded him in death on Dec. 14, 2003. He was employed with Angelo Luppino, Inc. as a welder and maintenance man. John was a quiet man but a very fun person when you got to know him. He also loved spending time with his family, and his cat Hulio. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed riding his 4-wheeler, cutting firewood, and puttering in the yard.

He will be sadly missed by his children: John Garro, Scott (Kim) Garro, Peter (Lori Roberts) Garro, and Amy (Dave) Sivula, grandson Carter Garro, brothers: Tony (Vicki) Garro and Pete (Yvonne) Garro, sister Mia Garro and his cat Hulio, as well as many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Gayle.
