Russell E. Aho

TROUT CREEK, Mich. - Russell E. Aho, 86, of Trout Creek, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at his home, with family by his side.

He was born July 10, 1931, in Trout Creek, to Nels and Ida (Paivarinta) Aho.

Russ is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Doris (Daly); a daughter, Sandy Zalack (Tom); three sons, Andy (Pam), Steve and Jeff (Traci); nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wesley (Donna) and Nelson (Marcia); his sister-in-law, Sharon Aho; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Doug.

Russ graduated from Flint Northern High and went on to serve in the Korean War. To support his family, he went to work at General Motors and retired from AC Spark Plug in Flint, Mich. He was a journeyman pipefitter and finished his career in supervision.

Russ was a good husband, father and friend who blessed all who knew him with his wisdom and advice, a good story or saying.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 9, at 1 p.m. EDT, preceded by visitation at 11 a.m. EDT, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Trout Creek, with the Rev. Kay Richter officiating.

Committal service and inurnment will take place at the Agate Cemetery, with a military graveside service under the auspices of the Ontonagon County Veterans Association.

Luncheon will be served at the American Legion Hall in Trout Creek following the military salute.
