Hurley — A motion to lower a Kimball, Wis., man’s bond on a terroristic threat charge was denied Tuesday morning in Iron County Court.

Robert “Barrel Bob” Gollubske, 81, had his bond continued at $10,000 by Iron County Judge Patrick Madden.

Gollubske is alleged to have told the clerk in the waiting area at the Marshfield Clinic in Mercer on Aug. 2, “I can blow this place up and get away with it,” causing fear among employees at the clinic.

He had been previously told he was no longer welcome at the clinic.

On Tuesday, Gollubske’s attorney, Stephen Zuber, cited no previous record and medical problems as reasons Gollubske should be released from jail on a lesser bond.

But Iron County District Attorney Matt Tingstad said Gollubske had made previous threats. Tingstad said he was concerned that Gollubske “had the ability to go through with these threats.”

Madden said he was well aware of the previous threats, noting Gollubske had called the FBI and asked if it would be OK if he would blow up the courthouse.

The judge said that as a result of that statement, security cameras and other safety measures had been installed at the courthouse.

A 10-day period for a preliminary hearing was also waived on Monday, with the court to set up a date for the next hearing.

Gollubske is also charged with disorderly conduct.
