CHARLOTTE, Mich. - Ellen S. Kangas passed away on Aug. 4, 2018, at her daughter Diane's home in Charlotte.
Ellen was born in Ironwood, the daughter of George and Senia (Nasi) Lassila. She married Matt H. Kangas, who preceded her in death on March 5, 1987.
Ellen was also preceded in death by her son, Dennis K. Nylund; brothers, Edwin and Ray; and sisters, Evelyn Lassila and Elsie Stella.
Surviving are her daughters, Diane Trethewey and Marla (Stephen) Kangas-Bunt; three grandchildren, Christie Trethewey, Rick Trethewey and Matthew (Rebecca) Kurta; three great-grandchildren, Destiny Trethewey, Patrisha Oberlin and Matthew M. Kurta; two sisters, Elayne Matulik and Irene Brozzo, and many nieces and nephews.
Ellen was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ironwood.
Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15, followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m. with Pastor Lisa Ubbelohde officiating at Zion Lutheran Church in Ironwood.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Ironwood.
