Ballots are set for the spring election in Iron County after Tuesday’s filing deadline. Besides the county board of supervisors, there are also elections on April 7 for mayor and city council seats in Hurley and Montreal, the Mercer town board and the Hurley and Mercer school boards. BESSEMER — The Gogebic County Board of Commissioners on Wednesday approved 7-0 a new attorney to provide legal counsel for the ongoing retirement funds issue with the Western Upper Peninsula Manpower Consortium. MONTREAL, Wis. - James William Talaska, 74, of Montreal, died early Monday morning, Dec. 23, 2019, at his home with his wife, Theresa and daughter, Tanya at his side.
