HURLEY - Gogebic Taconite provided information on its current work for a proposed mine near Upson, Wis., as well as possible reclamation ideas during an Iron County Mining Impact Committee meeting on Thursday night. G-Tac president Bill Williams and engineer Tim Myers addressed the board and answered questions throughout the meeting. MELLEN, Wis. — Lawrence D. Petermore, 81, of Garden Estates, Hurley, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at Mellen Manor Nursing Home in Mellen. He was born Dec. 17, 1933, in Bergland, Mich., son of the late Lawrence and Trula (Windgale) Petermore, and was raised by his stepfather, Manuel Jurmu, of Bergland. He worked as a sawyer with several logging companies in the area for many years until his retirement. HURLEY, Wis. - Adeline A. Kovales, 100, of Hurley, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at Sky View Nursing Center in Hurley. The former Adeline Schneider was born Sept. 9, 1914, in Park Falls, daughter of the late William and Margaret (Holfels) Schneider, and graduated from Park Falls High School in 1932. She attended Price County Normal and taught in Butternut for two years, then attended Milwaukee State Teachers College for three years.
