    To the Editor, I am writing this letter to urge your readers to contact their federal legislators regarding U.S. District Judge Beryl A. Howell’s ruling that returned the gray wolf to the Federal Endangered Species List. Judge Howell’s ruling includes the upper Midwest including Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan. It prevents these states from continuing successful DNR management programs and makes it a federal offense to kill a wolf for any reason.   • Myhre sentenced for sexually assaulting child

    HURLEY - A 30-year-old Juneau, Wis., man received an eight-year prison sentence Monday in Iron County Court for sexually assaulting a young child on several occasions. Brett Myhre was sentenced by Judge Patrick Madden, who also ordered eight years of extended supervision after completion of the prison sentence.     HURLEY, Wis. - Bonita A. "Bonnie" Nemacheck, 98, a former longtime Montreal resident, died peacefully Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, at Sky View Nursing Center in Hurley, surrounded by her loving family. The former Bonita Durham was born Nov. 27, 1916, in Ironwood, Mich., daughter of the late Alvin and Clara (Hoffman) Durham, and graduated from St. Ambrose High School in 1934.     MELLEN, Wis. - Robert A. "Bob" Mezzano, 90, of Hurley and formerly of Pence, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, in Mellen. He was born June 14, 1924, in Montreal, son of the late Anton and Marjorie (James) Mezzano. Robert attended local schools and was a longtime resident of Pence. From March 10, 1943, until Feb. 18, 1946, he served in the U.S. Navy during WWII aboard the U.S.S. Yuma.
