MDNR Sgt. Grant Emery, formerly of Bessemer, worked snowmobile activity in the Porcupine Mountains State Park, according to a Dec. 31-Jan. 13 report from the DNR.     DULUTH, Minn. - Paul Eugene Salonen, 70, of Bergland, Mich., passed away on Jan. 22, 2018 in Duluth, after a brief illness. Paul was born on March 17, 1947, to Ernest and Ida Salonen and attended Bergland Community Schools, graduating in the summer of 1965. He enlisted in the United States Air Force later that year, and was stationed at Loring Air Force Base in northeastern Maine for the duration of his service.     DE PERE, Wis. — Virginia Bee (Chouinard) Ferkovich passed away peacefully in the morning hours of Jan. 15, 2018. The daughter of Louis J. and Arley L (Rund) Chouinard, Virginia was born on Sept. 9, 1934, in Ironwood, Mich. She attended and graduated from the Ironwood Area Schools system. On July 16, 1955, she married Robert J. Ferkovich. He survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Roberta (Gary) Mack and Jules Ann (Denis) Schadrie, both of De Pere.
