    WATERSMEET - Wakefield-Marenisco started what it hopes is a long postseason run with a 64-37 victory over Ewen-Trout Creek in the MHSAA Class D District 127 tournament.   • City hears about Chamber of Commerce plans for the year

    BESSEMER - The Bessemer City Council heard from Bessemer Chamber of Commerce president Kathy Whitburn about the chamber's plans for the year. "We are very excited to keep supporting, and keep stepping up ... to introduce some new programs to the business community," Whitburn said. The chamber's next event is a "Business After 5" on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the Pit Stop Bar & Grill. Plans are for similar events every other month. He was born March 12, 1918, in Bessemer, son of the late August and Matilda (Lehtonen) Salmi, attended Puritan Grade School, and graduated from A.D. Johnston High School in 1935. He was born February 1, 1939, in Wolverine, son of the late Raymond and Lydia (Solonen) Bekkala. On June 15, 1959, Roy was united in marriage with Paulette Jarvela in Calumet.     KIMBALL, Wis. — Janet Marie Setterlund, 73, of Hurley passed away Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015. Janet was born on Oct. 28, 1941, in Ironwood, Mich., daughter of Hjalmer and Vivian (Luoma) Setterlund.
