Persons in that role are like the state troopers of the ski slopes, continually traveling the routes to be sure that everyone remains safe. It’s a volunteer job, according to Alex Young, who has been a patroller since 2012 at Bessemer’s Powderhorn Mountain Resort.     IRONWOOD, Mich. - Alberta "Birdie" June Quellette, 97, of Ironwood, entered in her eternal rest on March 2, 2019, at her home. Birdie was born on June 16, 1921, in Saginaw, to Christian and Walburga (Frank) Felten. On June 22, 1946, she married her sweetheart Miles Erwin Barrett at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Saginaw.
