To the Editor: For the masses, phonograph records are no longer vogue, but this writer, and I am quite sure of a certain amount of others, will not give up on them until there are no more machines to play them on. LPs, 78 RPMS, 45 RPMs: I have an significant amount of all three, but it has been a long time since I have played anything but the 45 RPMs, of which I may have hundreds. ESCANABA, Mich. - Elsie D. Friedman passed away on Feb. 27, 2015, in Escanaba, at the home of her daughter, Darcy. Elsie was born in Bessemer on Dec. 14, 1919, the daughter of Sam and Amelia Cerioni. She graduated from A.D. Johnston High School and married Theodore (Ted) Friedman on Sept. 12, 1946. Together they owned and operated Friedman's News Agency in Ironwood. SALINE, Mich. — Dorothy L. Kangas, 95, of Saline, formerly of Ironwood Township, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2015, at the Saline Evangelical Home in Saline. She was born Nov. 28, 1919, in Waltz, the daughter of David and Augusta (Ziemann) Schaefer. On Sept. 20, 1946, in Ann Arbor, she married Matthew Kangas and he preceded her in death on June 15, 2006. BESSEMER - This group of Bessemer seniors made one more lasting memory in their final game at the House of Noise. They won the final Porcupine Mountain Conference title by dominating Ewen-Trout Creek 85-57 Thursday night. The PMC is merging with the Copper Country Conference next year. What a way for the final PMC championship to be decided, with a title game between 4-1 teams. The Speedboys just took the drama out of it with a dominating performance.
