    IRONWOOD — Although the 17 inches of snow that had fallen in Ironwood from Tuesday to Thursday added depth to a snowy March, the total for the month is not close to setting a record.     IRONWOOD — The Michigan Department of Transportation and city of Ironwood have scheduled a Thursday, March 28, public meeting to discuss U.S. 2 (Cloverland Drive) corridor construction plans for 2014.     HURLEY, Wis. — Bernard J. “Doc” Kovales, 86, of Hurley, died Saturday, March 16, 2013, in Hurley. He was born Oct. 20, 1926, in Ironwood, Mich., son of the late Edward and Anna (Vida) Kovales, attended A.L. Norrie and St. Ambrose Grade School, and graduated from St. Ambrose High School in 1944. He then worked in area mines before entering the U.S. Army on Feb. 3, 1953, serving in Co. B, 998th Engineer Battalion, in Korea, and was honorably discharged as a corporal on Jan 24, 1955.
